Frame Wall

I decided the wall above our couch needed a little sprucing up so I finally put together a little frame wall. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!
(Don't mind the poor lighting, we live in a basement so its hard to get good pictures down here).

The "home sweet home" print was purchased on Etsy and I picked up the SLC Temple print (made by Ashmae) at the Bijou Market. I'd had my eye on that for quite some time so I was excited to finally get it!

I made the canvas art and this M was found in the dollar bin at Michaels months ago.

Making a Comeback

Lots of things exciting me in the design world as of late so I figured it's about time I get back on here and share them all with you.
We are finally putting together all of the finishing touches on my parent's living room / dining area. It has been quite a journey and although we're not quite there yet, it's coming along beautifully.
We went and picked up these lovlies the other day and they make me just so happy. I wish they were for my own home. :)

More finds while furniture shopping

We were out doing a little more furniture shopping the other day and I thought I'd snap some photos of some random items I liked. We had gone to a number of other places with no luck and finally decided to browse Osmond Design (the outlet). I had never been in their stores before and I am definitely learning that you have to give stores a chance. Not only did we find couches extremely close to what I had envisioned, they were under our budget! Fabulous. They let us steal a cushion to take home to see how it looked in the room. It's very important to see the piece you're going to buy in the lighting and space it will be used in. (Just a tip). Anyway, enough talking.
These are all from the Osmond Design Outlet.

Loved these throw pillows.

Always love a glass lamp.

Pretty plate.

Adore this headboard and pillow.

Birds.

And....the couch we decided to purchase. It will come with a matching love seat and we're still on the lookout for a chair. TRY to picture it without black pillows. I think it's going to be fantastic.

I should probably mention that this project is the kitchen / dining / living area in my parents house. Wish me luck! Now that we found the main furniture pieces we can move forward with the rest of the design process. Yay.

Surprises

Sometimes furniture stores will surprise you! I was furniture shopping this weekend for a project I'm working on and came across this fabulous chair:

Where you might ask? RC Willey! I for one did not know they sold items like this. It was the only one like it in the store. My point is always give stores a chance. They might surprise you with pieces they have that you wouldn't have imagined. Shop around!

Can't wait to keep you updated on this fun project.

I'm Back & Crib Photos

I apologize for my absence the past 3 weeks. My little boy was born on April 19th and I've been quite busy learning how to be a mom.
I'm going to try jump back into the blog world this week...wish me luck!

For now I'm going to show you my little guy's crib area. We don't have the space quite yet for a full blown nursery, but I wanted to give him a little corner of his own. {Part of it is not shown because it's not quite finished}.

My husband and father in law built his crib for him-awesome! They took wood from trees where my father in law grew up, plained them down, and created this crib. He let me choose any color I wanted for the paint. I'm obsessed with white currently so that choice was easy. Anyways, I love it and love that it has special meaning too. Pretty cool!

I hope to be back tomorrow for Wallpaper Wednesday, but I can't promise anything. Please stay tuned though, I'll do my best!

A Living Room Makeover

A friend of mine asked for my help in making over her living room.
This project was the perfect example of the changes that can be made both on a budget and living in a rental space. If you're not planning on living in a place for longer than a year or two, there's not much of a point in spending a ton of money and time in re-doing a space. But- there are definitely some tricks to make your home (even if it's temporary) a place that you love.

We worked with existing furniture and existing carpet as well.
By adding a little paint, changing up the fabrics, and adding in some new decor & accessories, we completely changed the look of the room for no more than $150.
(That includes new side tables, paint & supplies, fabric, lighting, and some new pieces of decor).

Salon Inspiration

I've been helping a friend of mine turn her extra bedroom into a salon so she can do hair out of her home. We've gone with a cooler color palate with greys, whites, and some rich blues. I wanted to create a sophisticated, calming look with a little bit of glam.
Here's a little mood board I put together with some of our inspiration.
